I got nervous about building, so we looked at houses. We figured that we could buy something nice and sell our townhouse and the rental property.

I think this house pushed us over the edge. It was listed at $500k. It was a full acre lot, but the house was small and wierd. Someone had built an addition which had a large living/family room and a small kitden. The bedrooms were part of the original structure and were tiny. This photo shows the basement which had a 7 foot ceiling on a good day. We decided this was a $500k tear down and the location was worse tham our rental.
